The lodge had amazing gardens and a beautiful pool to enjoy. The bathroom was wonderful with a skylight and a double shower. The hosts were attentive and provided delicious homemade bread, preserves, and chutneys for breakfast. They even brought us spring water infused with lime and elderflower by the pool. The attention to detail in the lodge was outstanding, with a fusion of antiques and modern touches. The location nestled in the Taranaki hills was breathtaking. a marvelous experience.
Felt very welcome, nothing to complain about.

The view from the room was breathtaking, we could see the sunset in the horizon. The breakfast was delicious and there were homemade jams and granolas made with fresh fruits. the hosts were very hospitable, knowledgeable of the area and always willing to help.
The shared bathroom was a bit inconvenient, especially since the toilet was in the same room. This could be problematic if there were more guests in the hotel.

Our stay at this hidden gem was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we felt like royalty. The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and stress-free. The breakfast was sensational, with a wide variety of homemade jams and spreads, bread, muesli, and freshly brewed coffee. The room was beautifully designed, clean, and comfortable, with a door that opened onto a terrace overlooking the stunning surroundings. The open-air swimming pool in the garden was a perfect spot to relax and unwind. The bathroom was spacious, well-equipped, and spotlessly clean. We regret not eating at the lodge as we saw the delicious dinner prepared for other guests. We highly recommend contacting the lodge in advance to arrange dining there. There is also plenty to do in the local area, and the hosts are full of helpful recommendations. our stay exceeded all expectations, and we can't wait to return.

I absolutely loved the decoration at the lodge, it had a charming and cozy feel to it. The furniture and artwork were tasteful and added to the overall ambiance. The general areas were well-maintained and clean, and there were plenty of comfortable seating areas for us senior folks to relax and chat. The hotel's accessibility for senior people was top-notch, with ramps and handrails in place to assist with any mobility challenges.
I would have appreciated more handrails in the hallways.
